ASHEVILLE — Documents filed in bankruptcy court say damage from an intentionally set fire at a western North Carolina inn is estimated at $7 million.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported Thursday that owners of the Richmond Hill Inn in Asheville listed assets of more than $16 million.

Officials said the March 19 fire that destroyed the 120-year-old mansion at the center of the luxury inn was intentionally set. Twelve rooms were destroyed, but the inn still has 24 rooms
available.

Inn owners said that by Tuesday 14 brides had canceled weddings that were scheduled at the inn.

The owners say the decision to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy was made more than a month ago.
