Rondo Words: Time to stop and smell the azaleas
As daunting the economy may be, Mother Nature is forging onward, right on schedule.
She is not to be deterred by misplaced bonuses, rising unemployment, or trillion dollar deficits. Temperatures are climbing, trees are budding, and the azaleas are bursting into glorious bloom.
That’s worth celebrating… and celebrate it we shall in the next week in Wilmington.
There is a sense of renewal that comes with spring. It puts a spring in your step and pollinates one with the feeling that life springs eternal.
Nature works in cycles. So too economies.
We can only hope the rebirth that comes with spring spawns a similar uptick in America’s finances. In the meantime, may I suggest that you savor the city at the heart of our region when it is at its absolute prettiest.
Wilmington’s Azalea Festival starts in just a few days.
There’s plenty of hoopla… a parade, garden party, ball, concerts, a street festival.
But the flowers and the gardens, nature’s handiwork, are the stars of this event.
Let them sweep you away.
Economy? What economy?
I’m taking time to stop and smell the azaleas.
