UPDATE: Dolphin found washed up on Carolina Beach euthanized
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY/StarNewsOnline.com) — A dolphin found stranded on the sand at Carolina Beach by a passerby early this morning has been euthanized, according to our partners at the StarNews.
This comes after dispatchers say they got a call just before 7 a.m. about a dolphin that was washed ashore in the 700 block of Carolina Beach Avenue North. They said though the animal was stuck there, it was still alive when it was discovered by someone walking along the beach.
They say a crew with UNCW's Marine Biology lab is there to help rescue the dolphin, along with Carolina Beach Police. At last check, dispatchers told us they were waiting on a Veterinarian to get to the sand to help.
F.T. Norton at the StarNews reported just after 9 a.m. that the mammal was later euthanized because of complications present when someone spotted the stranded dolphin. Click here to read more on this story at the StarNewsOnline.com.
