THIS JUST IN: Plane from Wilmington crashes in SC
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)- A small plane from Wilmington has crashed about 10 miles from the Chester Catawba Airport in South Carolina.
According to the FAA, the plane left Wilmington on Friday and was flying to Clayton, Georgia. A concerned party contacted the FAA yesterday to report the plane was missing.
Gary Broughton, with Wilmington International Airport, says they were also contacted last night and asked if the AA1 plane was still on the runway. The plane was based on the south ramp at AeroService at ILM. It’s registered to the Warriors to Wings plane club out of Sneads Ferry. Broughton says the pilot did not file a flight plan, so they do not know when the pilot actually left the airport.
Chester county emergency management confirms that two people were on board and died. We’ll bring you more updates as they become available.
