Marine, Wilmington resident killed in plane from ILM that crashed in SC
CHESTER COUNTY, SC (WWAY) — Investigators in South Carolina have released the names of the two people killed in a plane crash over the weekend.
The Chester County Coroner says the crash victims are Ericsson Davis, 24, and Anisa Rossi, 22.
Davis was a Marine from Florida. He was a 1st Lieutenant stationed at Marine Corps Air Station New River. Rossi was from Rhode Island, but lived in Wilmington, officials say. Both were found dead in the wreckage.
According to the FAA, the plane left Wilmington Friday and was flying to Clayton, GA. A concerned party contacted the FAA Sunday to report the plane was missing. The wreckage and bodies were found yesterday near the Chester Catawba Airport in Chester County, SC.
Wilmington International Airport Operations Director Gary Broughton says the airport was also contacted Sunday night and asked if the AA1 plane was still on the runway. The plane was based on the south ramp at AeroService at ILM. It’s registered to the Warriors to Wings plane club out of Sneads Ferry. Broughton says the pilot did not file a flight plan, so they do not know when the plane actually left the airport.
