STORMTRACK 3: The first Tropical Depression of the Atlantic season forms off the coast of Florida
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A persistent area of low pressure continues to organize off the Florida coast. At 11 PM Monday night, the system became the first Tropical Depression of the Atlantic Hurricane Season.
According to our Pinpoint Futurecast model, this system will remain near Florida through early Wednesday morning. An approaching cold front will then guide the system on a northeastward track Thursday and Friday. Such a path would allow the storm to pass very close to southeastern North Carolina. As a result, showers/thunderstorms will increase in coverage late Thursday and Friday. The system will depart our area by early Saturday, allowing a typical summertime pattern to resume for most of the weekend.
