Galleria deannexation bill passes in General Assembly
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Goodbye, Wrightsville Beach. Hello, Wilmington.
A bill to allow the old Galleria property to transfer municipalities has passed in the General Assembly. Senate Bill 523 passed its final vote in the Senate yesterday without objection.
The bill allows the Town of Wrightsville Beach to deannex the area and the City of Wilmington to annex it. A developer wants to turn the abandoned property into a mix-used development with shops and apartments.
Because it’s a local act, the bill does not need the governor’s signature to become law.
