AG Cooper to stop fighting challenges to NC gay marriage ban
RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) — North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper said Monday he predicts the state’s ban on same sex marriage could be struck down, after a ruling in Virginia.
Cooper said the North Carolina law will “almost surely be overturned,” and that prosecutors will drop opposition to challenges to state’s same-sex marriage ban.
A federal appeals court ruled that Virginia’s same-sex marriage ban is unconstitutional, which is the latest in a string of decisions overturning bans across the country.
