One suspect in custody for Sunday shooting, second still sought

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One of two men wanted for a shooting Sunday in Creekwood is in custody.

The New Hanover County Jail website shows Hykeem Quintell Durant, 24, was arrested some time yesterday. He is due in court today.

Yesterday afternoon, police got warrants for Durant and Jakia Imani Boney, 24, for assault with a deadly weapon, going armed to the terror of the public and injury to personal property.

The victim told police Boney and Durant fired several shots at him after an argument. The shooting happened in the Creekwood Housing community around 6:30 p.m. near 702 N. 30th Street.

Police don’t have a picture of Boney on file.
