Development chief: Project Diamond still in the works

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A project that could bring business and jobs to the Brunswick-Columbus county line may not be dead after all.

Yesterday the NC House of Representatives defeated a bill that would have provided incentives for an economic development plan called Project Diamond in Brunswick County.

Brunswick County Economic Development Commission Executive Director Jim Bradshaw says the project is still in the works. He says they are still trying to find ways to remain competitive against two other states that also want the project.

Bradshaw would not say what company was involved in Project Diamond, but he did say it is not Continental Tire, as suggested on the House floor. Bradshaw said he’s not sure where that information came from.

He also said he and his team are working on 11 possible projects for the county.
