Betsy Jordan supporters apologize for campaigning at protest
WILMINTON, NC (WWAY) — There was a peaceful protest in Wilmington Thursday night in an effort to remember those killed after altercations with police. A group of people stood out at tonight’s event.
Though the protest was not political, some supporters from Betsy Jordan’s campaign showed up wearing “Jordan for NC House” tank tops. The staffers left halfway through the rally, and Jordan was not at the event herself.
Some at the protest felt this was in poor taste, so WWAY reached out to the Jordan campaign. They said though they did support the rally’s cause, they didn’t understand the event and expected it to be more political in nature. They went on to apologize.
Jordan is a Democratic candidate for the North Carolina House of Representatives challenging incumbent Rep. Rick Catlin for his 20th District seat representing part of New Hanover County.
