Suspect charged for shooting marine in bed
ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man is accused of trying to kill a marine sleeping in his bed.
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office said the marine was shot several times while sleeping in his off base Hubert home back in March.
Investigators with the Onslow County Sheriff’s office and the US Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) got evidence during the investigation that led them to believe that the suspect in the shooting was from Anderson, SC.
Lavance Shaka Gadsden was arrested and charged with First Degree Attempted Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill or Inflict Serious Injury Wednesday.
The marine has since recovered and has been released from the hospital.
Gadsden is being held under a $750,000 bond in the Onslow County jail.
