Two people robbed, assaulted while trying to park downtown

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police responded to an armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon around 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Police said two people parked in the 500 block of Brunswick Street near 5th Avenue to go downtown. As they were parking, police said they were approached by two black males. One suspect was at the driver’s window and hit the first victim with a gun several times while demanding money.

Police said the other suspect stood by the passenger’s door during the robbery to keep it closed. He then demanded money and hit the other victim with a gun. The suspects got away with one of the victims’ wallet.

The victims left the area and went to the nearest hospital.

If you have any information, you are asked to call the police.
