Spending, mudslinging up in US Senate race
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s the most expensive race in US Senate history the airwaves have been flooded with mudslinging from both sides. Thom Tillis and Kay Hagan are battling it out in the Tarheel State for your vote.
Thursday Speaker Tillis and Senator Hagan both campaigned in Wilmington and both stuck to their traditional stump speeches.
Tillis criticizing Hagan for her ties to President Obama. Hagan hitting Tillis on his record in Raleigh.
Tillis didn’t want to talk to reporters but Hagan did. We asked questions though about the campaigns negative turn to both of them.
“Actually our race is getting pretty positive I’ll let the other side speak for themselves,” Tillis said.
“The fact that Charles and David Koch have attacked me over and over and over again for Thom Tillis is wrong,” said Hagan.
Between the two campaigns, and outside groups, more than $100-million has been spent on this race.
