Early voting comes to an end
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Political campaign signs fill the sides of road pretty much wherever you go, but especially on the road leading up to Government Center in Wilmington where early voters for the past several days have been able to cast their ballot.
As early voting came to an end Saturday, people were voting until the last minute. Some even trying to vote after the 1 o’clock closing time.
One stop lead Laura Rogers says the amount of folks that came out to vote early equals the amount they would see during a Presidential election.
Staff knew they were going to have a high turn out than previous years, but not as many as they had.
Rogers said, “Campaigning has been normal. There hasn’t been more candidates out than normal. I have no clue what has brought more voters in. It’s not a complaint. It’s really awesome but at the same time, Wow!.”
The amount of early voters was double than years prior said Rogers. On Thursday, over 18,000 people had came out and exercise their right to vote. If you are voting an absentee ballot, make sure you have it stamped by November 4 for it to be valid.
If you haven’t voted yet, you can November 4th from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm at the Government Center.
