CAMP LEJEUNE — A Marine Corps base in North Carolina is breaking ground on a new wounded warrior barracks, one of four future facilities that will make up its Wounded Warrior Complex.

Gen. James F. Amos, assistant commandant of the Marine Corps, is scheduled to attend Friday’s groundbreaking ceremony at Camp Lejeune. The $25 million construction project will be built near the base’s naval hospital, and will feature 100 two-man rooms with a living area and kitchenette, fitness and physical therapy rooms and private counselor rooms.

Officials said the barracks are meant to provide wounded Marines a “place to not only rehabilitate but also adjust to life in a compassionate environment.”
