RALEIGH — State officials issued a cease and desist order for the owners of a North Carolina investment business after a raid netted nearly $2 million in bullion and coins.

The Secretary of State’s office said its law enforcement agents searched the office and storage areas connected to Sidney and Charlotte Hanson and their financial company, Queen Shoals Group, LLC, in Charlotte.

Agents removed paper and electronic records as well as what was described as approximately $1.9 million in silver and gold bullion and coins.

Secretary of State Elaine Marshall said it appears the company and its owners offered securities to the public without either the seller or the investment offerings being legally registered.

A phone call made to a listing for Sidney Hanson seeking comment was not immediately returned Sunday.
