Pilot program aims to clean up dirty drug needles
Heroin use has increased dramatically across North Carolina, and has become a public health and safety concern. A bill passed this year in the General Assembly creates a pilot program to clean used syringes off the streets in two areas, the City of Fayetteville and Haywood County. But, at least one expert says the heroin problem is worse in New Hanover County than in those communities.
