Pros and cons of public healthcare
The health care debate affects all of us. UNCW nursing professor Kae Livsey broke down some of the pros and cons of the public option. The pros include government buying power reducing costs and enhanced coverage can help contain out of control costs.
Livsey said some of the concerns of public healthcare are that it would steal customers away from the private plans and reductions in payments to providers may limit your choice of provider.
“It’s a travesty that there are people in the United States that can’t get access to any healthcare. According to the Kaiser Foundation, North Carolina ranks among the top 15 states in the number of uninsured people, with 21 percent of the population without health insurance.
