Whats Happening: June 26-28


Creativity and talent come together for the Quilters by the Sea 27th Annual Quilt Show. There will be new and used items, vendors, raffles and demos. Hours Friday night are from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday from 11:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

The quilt show is at Temple Baptist Church on George Anderson Drive in Wilmington. Admission is five dollars.

It was a hit on the big screen, now High School Musical is coming to the stage in Brunswick County. The production is even using original backdrops from Disney. High School Musical will be performed at 7:30 Friday and Saturday night, and at 3:00 Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Tickets are twelve dollars for kids twelve and under, fifteen dollars for everyone else. The musical takes place at O’Dell Williamson Auditorium.

Saturday, it’s the 3rd Annual Downtown Wilmington Brewgrass Festival. Local and regional breweries will have suds to sample and there is a long list of bluegrass bands that will take the stage. It runs from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Water and Princess Streets. The $35 tickets include admission, unlimited beer tastings and a commemorative glass. If it doesn’t sell out, day of admission is $40.

If you are welcoming a new baby, or just want to pamper one you already have, do not miss the All About Baby Shower and Children’s Expo this Saturday. There will also be plenty of informative booths for parents. The expo is from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Schwartz Center on Front Street.

Saturday, there’s a poker run benefit and yard sale for Kaylee Jade Robbins. She has a defect in her abdominal wall and will be in Chapel Hill for several weeks. The poker run begins at JW’s Place in Leland at 11:00, heads to Myrtle Beach, then stops at various bars and restaurants in Brunswick County. The ride is ten dollars per person or fifteen per couple. Food plates are available for a five dollars donation.

Celebrate summer with seasonal beer and plenty of food. The first ever Summer Beer Fest is this Saturday in the parking lot of Fat Tony’s in the Racine Commons Shopping Center. To go along with the festival, there will also be a live band. The fun begins at 5:30 p.m.
