My Turn: Should lottery money be accepted as church donations?
This week’s story about the recent Powerball winner donating $680,000 to a church in Brunswick County triggered a flashback for me. The setting was a church finance committee meeting. There was a similar story in the news and our committee chair made the remark that we would not accept lottery winnings as a donation to the church. My response was, “I’d hope we would get a chance to vote on that.”
