Business booms during the Fourth of July in Carolina Beach
Tens of thousands of people took advantage of the holiday weekend to get out and enjoy some of the local attractions. The Wilmington Visitor’s Bureau considers the Fourth of July holiday the busiest time of the year for our area. That means big money for local storeowners.
The holiday weekend boosted sales and the spirits of business owners in Carolina Beach.
When you mix the colors red, white and blue for business owners in Carolina Beach, you get lots of green.
“There was constantly people coming in,” said Amanda Grimsley, a sales associate at Blue Reef.
Sales were so good, they could hardly keep supplies on the shelves. “We actually had to stock up on a lot more things yesterday because a lot of things were either sold out or we were getting low on them,” she added.
Managers at the Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar in Carolina Beach say all the foot traffic at the beach meant a great weekend for their business.
Planning ahead for the crowds allowed money to flow to the small business, which has only been open for a little over a year.
“We put in larger food orders and just prepared more because we definitely expected an increase. This is definitely when we make our money; you got to make it when it’s here,” said co-manager Keith Purgason.
Even during tough times, many business owners said people were still willing to spend money to have a good time.
