North Carolina State University names Kevin Keatts as their new head basketball coach. The university’s Director of Athletics, Debbie Yow, made the announcement on the university’s athletic website. Keatts joins NCSU’s program after three seasons as head coach of UNC-Wilmington.

Residents oppose WPD’s LRAD purchase

Residents are contacting Wilmington City Council members and meeting with the police department with concerns over WPD’s proposed LRAD purchase. Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous asked council last week to approve appropriating nearly $30,000 to buy an LRAD 450.  The LRAD broadcasts messages, warnings and instructions from up to 1.86 miles away.
