Permission Granted: Catholics can eat meat this Friday

You may be happy to know that a potential dilemma for the Lenten season has been avoided this week. Many people observe a tradition of abstaining from eating meat on Fridays during Lent. Oak Island Pier ‘unsafe for human occupancy’

The Oak Island fishing pier has been shut down. Steven Edwards, Oak Island’s development services director, sent a letter to Oak Island Mayor Cin Brochure and pier owner A.C. Thomes Jr. stating that he found the pier to be "unsafe for human occupancy."

New standards would let first-year residents work 24-hour shifts

Newly-revised requirements for graduate medical students would allow first-year residents to work shifts of up to 24 hours. The previous maximum was 16 hours.
