New sidewalk to aid Freeman students who walk to school

Crews put the finishing touches Wednesday on a new section of sidewalk on Princess Place Drive that will make it safer for students to walk to Freeman Elementary School.<br>The 800-foot section of sidewalk connects Freeman and 30th Street. Prior to the installation, students had to walk on the edge of the road, making it unsafe.

Wilmington learning center taking applications for new school year

The Mary S. Mosley Performance Learning Center, 1805 S. 13th St., Wilmington, is accepting applications for the 2008-09 school year.<br>This center, which will serve grades 10 through 12, is a partnership with Communities In Schools of North Carolina and receives partial funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
