New regulations imposed on shark fishing

The N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries released a proclamation last week increasing regulations for shark fishing. For example, the sandbar shark has been added to the list of sharks that cannot be fished.

Retailers gear up for sales tax holiday this weekend

If you’ve been hanging on to that economic stimulus check or just looking for a reason to go shopping, this weekend might provide the perfect excuse. The state’s sales tax holiday runs from 12:01 a.m. Friday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday, offering an automatic savings of 6.75 percent on clothing, school supplies and computers.
