Oak Island Town Council ousts planning board member

Oak Island | This town’s council removed one of its planning board members Tuesday, accusing him of “unprofessional conduct.”<br>The council voted 4-1, with Mary Snead dissenting, to remove Loman Scott from the planning board.

Police Blotter: Firefighters respond to blaze

A kitchen fire brought an emergency response to 2504 Princess Place Drive on Tuesday night, though residents weren’t displaced.<br>A little before 9 p.m., fire trucks filled the intersection of 25th Street and Princess Place Drive. <br>Battalion Chief Kevin Dudley said residents escaped on their own, and firefighters extinguished the fire.

Meeting on Marines’ access to Wilmington bars called a success

But everybody who spoke Tuesday about concerns that Wilmington bars discriminate against Marines was of one mind when it comes to state laws requiring bars that serve liquor to operate as members-only clubs.<br>”It’s the stupidest law I’ve ever seen in my life,” Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous said.
