Authorities won’t say if 911 calls will aid murder investigation

Records relating to 911 phone calls from the residence of Valerie Burns were released Tuesday, but authorities wouldn’t comment on whether the phone calls shed any light on who left Burns to die in her burning vehicle.

Sidbury Road reopens after being closed for fire

Firefighters extinguished a fire that burned brush and an abandoned structure in the 5500 block of Sidbury Road on Tuesday.<br>Afterward, they reopened a stretch of Sidbury Road between Blue Clay Road and Ennis Acres Road, in New Hanover County, which had been closed for the emergency response.

Meeting on Marines’ access to Wilmington bars called success

They didn’t agree to a lot. But everybody who spoke Tuesday about concerns that Wilmington bars discriminate against Marines was of one mind when it comes to state laws requiring bars that serve liquor to operate as members-only clubs.<br>”It’s the stupidest law I’ve ever seen in my life,” Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous said.
