Authorities follow leads in case of Leland woman found dead in burning car

Authorities have leads and a few persons of interest in the murder of Valerie Burns, a 49-year-old woman found dead last week in her burning car, said Lt. Sam Davis, with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

Visitation, fund for daughter arranged for jailer shot to death Wednesday

A public visitation for Tarica Pulliam will be held Sunday, and people can donate to a fund for her 7-year-old daughter.<br>Pulliam, 27, a New Hanover County jailer, was shot to death outside her apartment at Briarcliff Villas in the northern part of the county on her way to work Wednesday.
