Funnel cloud spotted near Cape Fear bridge; strong storms over Southeastern N.C.

About 11:15 a.m., emergency officials and the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Wilmington reported the formation of a funnel cloud near the Isabel Holmes Bridge, which then moved toward the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and off to the north.

Former Rep. Wright guilty of obstruction of justice

Former NC Rep. Thomas Wright has been found guilty of felony obstruction of justice.<br>Jurors decided that the Wilmington Democrat prevented election officials from carrying out their duties and the public from learning about donations by failing to report $150,000 in contributions.

Paul’s Place hot dogs are favorite with locals, visitors

The hot dogs at Paul’s Place in Rocky Point attract customers from across the country.<br>”They do it right,” said Matt Tonkovich, of Sulfur, La. He was with a friend who was visiting family in Delco from her home in Texas.<br>”Mustard, relish, onion – that’s the way to do a hot dog,” Tonkovich said.

Colonial Terminals Inc. has plans to expand its tank farm

The gap between downtown Wilmington and the working riverfront to its south may soon shrink.<br>Colonial Terminals Inc., a fuel and chemical depot on South Front Street, has plans to expand its tank farm into about 12 acres of vacant land near the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge.
