Trouble with travel prompts woman to create PupCentric tote

When Jamye Hickman came back to Brunswick County to visit her parents, naturally she had to bring along her 3-year-old Shi-Tzu, Zoe-Joe. “But taking her from Atlanta to Bolivia was just cumbersome,” said Hickman, a graduate student at Georgia Tech. Thus, she set out to design the perfect canine carry-all bag.

Pedestrian in critical condition after hit by car on Market Street

A 24-year-old man is in critical condition after he was hit by a car on Market Street near Ogden Park early Sunday, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.<br>Trooper B.R. Phillips said the man was impaired before he was hit by a black Lexus at about 2 a.m.

Police say shooting victim charged after he’s found to be felon with stolen weapon

Officers arrested a shooting victim Sunday morning after realizing he was a convicted felon carrying a stolen handgun, police said.<br>The man was not seriously wounded, according to a statement from the Wilmington Police Department.

WTA weighs layoffs for some bus drivers

Wave Transit is hurting from increasing fuel costs and the sagging economy.<br>It’s hurting so much that six to 10 bus drivers might soon get laid off, bus system officials said.<br>”We’re going to exhaust all other possibilities first,” said Terry Thompson, general manager for Professional Transit Management, Wave Transit’s operating company.
