Solemn rituals mark seventh anniversary of 9/11

The FDNY-CRA Honor Guard presents the colors at the 2008 9/11 Memorial at Brunswick Community College Thursday. The members of the honor guard are all retired New York City Firefighters.

Stories of the water rather than of the road have come in by mail and e-mail. When things go wrong in and on the water, desperation can set in. Nature can quickly overwhelm our illusion of control.<br>Mary Sanders of Wilmington wrote about a lifesaving rescue from a rip current and to thank the “heroes of Carolina Beach.”

HBO series looking for twin cross-dressing toddlers

As if mullet haircuts for the pilot weren’t enough. The new HBO comedy series <i>Eastbound & Down</i>, which begins filming locally Sept. 29, now needs either a) twin girls who look like boys or b) twin boys who can be dressed as girls.<br>Either way, the kids need to be Caucasian and between the ages of 1 and half to 2 and a half.
