Swiping sea turtle eggs could mean the death penalty for foxes on Caswell Beach. <br>Members of Caswell Beach Turtle Watch are hoping the town will give it permission to trap the clever bandits on public property.<br>But some residents argue it’s unfair to kill one animal to save another.

Businessman opposes tank farm expansion

The last time Wilmington residents gathered enough signatures to force city council’s hand was in the early 1980s, when citizens organized against laws that banned Sunday shopping.<br>Now a downtown businessman is trying the same approach in an attempt to stop a riverfront “tank farm” from expanding closer to downtown.

80-year-old pilot survives crash near Wallace

A single-engine plane crashed about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday just north of the Wallace Airport. The pilot was being flown to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.
