Sheriff’s Office urges residents to beware of scam

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is asking people to beware of a scam that has occurred in this area.<br>The suspects are a man and a woman who say they have a sick or injured relative, and that they need gas money, according to a statement from 1st Sgt. T.L. Fuss, spokesman for the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

Film producer has plan to bring big-budget movies to N.C.

When EUE/Screen Gems completes its 37,500 square foot sound stage, it will become the gem in an already rich film industry in Wilmington. The Port City’s film infrastructure has been developing since the 1980s when Dino de Laurentiis filmed “Firestarter” here and established DEG Studios.
