Brickhouse knows NASCAR history; he was part of it

Rocky Point |<br>Last Sunday brought an important anniversary for Richard Brickhouse. On Sept. 14, 1969, the retired Pender County farmer won the inaugural Talladega 500, his first and only win in the top echelon of stock-car racing.<br>The victory was controversial because most of the sport’s big-name drivers boycotted the race.

Two stabbed; one tried to help other

A man reported he was also stabbed Saturday while helping a stabbing victim in downtown Wilmington.<br>At 3:30 a.m., police responded to the corner of Front and Princess streets in reference to a stabbing, and found a man lying in the middle of the street, Wilmington police spokeswoman Lucy Crockett said.

Chase for heroin trafficking suspect ends in arrest
