This past New Year’s Eve, Christina Gianoplus went to the emergency room with what she thought was a severe bladder infection. It turned out the 38-year-old Wilmington mother of four had Stage IV colorectal cancer.

Man implying he has gun robs a Walgreens

Monday, September 15th, 2008

A man robbed a Walgreens store early Monday by passing the cashier a note and implying he had a weapon, police said.<br>The robbery occurred at 1:48 a.m. in the store at 4521 Oleander Drive, according to a statement from Lucy Crockett, spokeswoman for the Wilmington Police Department.

Report: Crime rates fall in Wilmington, across U.S.

Violent crime in the United States fell last year for the first time in the past three years, according to statistics the FBI released on Monday. Property crime also dropped, continuing a five-year decline in the United States.

Brunswick eliminates water, sewer availability fees

Bolivia | Now that Brunswick County’s utility systems are self-sufficient, residents who are not connected to county utility lines will be relieved of the monthly $11 water availability fee and the $18 sewer availability fee.
