City council to vote on contribution to transportation center study

Councilman Jim Quinn doesn’t expect to be around when Wilmington’s long-envisioned transportation finally hub gets built. <br>But he’s still an advocate of the proposed center, which would combine bus, taxi and rail services under one roof. Recent spikes in gas prices underscore the future need for trains service, Quinn said.

McGee voted regional superintendent of the year

Katie McGee, superintendent of Brunswick County Schools, has been voted<br>regional superintendent of the year for 2008-2009 by the Southeast Region Superintendents’ Council, according to a news release from the school system. The council is composed of the superintendents of seventeen public school systems in southeastern North Carolina.
