More than $1 million invested in state Senate race

The campaign of state Sen. Julia Boseman, D-New Hanover, has raised $846,000 in her bid for a third term, including more than $537,000 from state Democratic Party committees. Opponent Michael Lee raised about $255,000.

Man shot Wednesday afternoon on Dawson Street

A man was shot twice in the legs about 1:15 p.m. today while walking along Dawson Street, police say. Police said they are looking for two men who are acquainted with the victim in connection with the shooting.

Adult CPR class starts Nov. 3 at Red Cross

The Cape Fear Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold an adult CPR class Nov. 3.<br>It will teach people how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults. The course is a prerequisite for some other health and safety classes.
