Economy takes toll on Cavenaugh car lots

Bruce Cavenaugh has closed his AutoMart store, resulting in the layoff of 18 employees, Cavenaugh said Monday. He said his business is down 10 percent to 11 percent from last year. He estimated that auto sales are down 20 percent in the region.

Alcohol makes stabbing victim’s memory hazy

A man was stabbed Sunday night but told officers he remembered little of the incident because he had been drinking, officials said.<br>Officers responded to New Hanover Regional Medical Center at 10:39 Sunday night, according to Lucy Crockett, spokeswoman for the Wilmington Police Department.
