Commissioner withdraws utility rate rollback plan

New Hanover officials decline plan to change alcohol rules

New Hanover County commissioners declined Monday to endorse a resolution asking the N.C. Alcohol Beverage Control Board to eliminate the three-day wait rule for private clubs, a rule that came under fire after military members complained it’s unfairly used to shut them out of downtown Wilmington bars.

Cavenaugh car dealerships shrink, close

Bruce Cavenaugh has closed his AutoMart store, resulting in the layoff of 18 employees, Cavenaugh said Monday. He said his business is down 10 percent to 11 percent from last year. He estimated that auto sales are down 20 percent in the region.
