2 schools dismissing students after lockdown

Gregory Elementary School is releasing students and Williston Middle School will be releasing students on schedule at 3:30 after both were locked down after reports of shots fired on school property, Superintendent Rick Holliday said at 3:20 p.m. today.

Titan acquires rights to separate parcel to avoid mining wetlands

Titan America has acquired rights to another parcel of land in Castle Hayne, a Titan spokeswoman said Friday, a move that will allow the company to avoid mining roughly 300 acres of wetlands along the Northeast Cape Fear River and Island Creek.
