Pender commissioners consider school site for library branch

Pender County’s board of commissioners and school board are talking about putting a new Hampstead library branch on the U.S. 17 campus of Topsail middle and high schools.<br>The site is a roughly three-acre wooded space near the existing middle school.

Sale of J.H. Lea & Sons nets business for Atlantic Seafood

J.H. Lea’s sale to Atlantic Seafood Co. was completed in November, according to Joseph Smith, president of Atlantic Seafood. The new owners have since taken over the J.H. Lea facilities on U.S. 17, while the Atlantic Seafood site on N.C. 210 will reopen as a retail outlet, possibly as early as Feb. 1, he said.
