Cases of norovirus that causes stomach flu on rise in N.C.

State health officials are noticing an uptick in upchucks across North Carolina.The N.C. Division of Public Health has reported an increase of outbreaks for noro-viruses, a group of viruses causing gastroenteritis or the stomach flu.

Murrayville Elementary School students became authors Friday

Some newly published authors spent the day enjoying the work of their peers, and lending some words of support.

Students at Murrayville Elementary School wrote books on a variety of topics that were published by a school publishing company. The books ranged from love stories to a Godzilla biography.

The students said they enjoyed sharing their work with classmates.

The students competed to show off some of their stories. Some even took the time to read a few of the books that interested them. Readers left some positive feedback for their fellow authors.

Victim mum after being stabbed in the chest

A stabbing victim being treated for a chest wound at New Hanover Regional Medical Center was uncooperative while being interviewed by the Wilmington Police Department on Saturday. WPD officers responded to the hospital at 1:15 a.m. Saturday to meet with the victim, according to a report from WPD spokeswoman Lucy Crockett.
