Economic slump complicates plans for New Hanover schools

New Hanover County could have a year-round middle school for the 2010-11 school year.But only if enough parents express interest in the proposal – and then follow through.Every few minutes Saturday, a plane would rumble down the runway at the Wilmington International Airport and slowly soar into the cloudless sky.

Virginia port proves a model for N.C. project

Amber Alert canceled; missing girl from Hoke County found safe

The Hoke County Sheriff`s Office canceled its Amber Alert at 1:48 a.m. today. Missing child Chelsey Lynn Bell was found and is safe, the cancellation message from the sheriff’s office said.
