24-hour UNC Dance Marathon begins this weekend

CHAPEL HILL — There will be some aching feet in Chapel Hill by Saturday evening.

That’s because more than 1,800 University of North Carolina students have pledged to stand on their feet for 24 hours to raise money for the N.C. Children’s Hospital.

The 11th annual UNC Dance Marathon begins at 7 p.m. Friday at Fetzer Gym, with an introduction by football coach Butch Davis, and ends at 7 p.m. Saturday. The marathon is the largest student-led fundraiser at UNC.

It has raised more than $1.6 million since it began.

Are you or your child heading off to college soon, but not sure about filling out the free application for federal student aid? Help is on the way this weekend with FAFSA Day.

High school seniors can get free help with the form tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon at UNC Wilmington, Brunswick Community College in Bolivia, Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, Bladen Community College in Dublin and James Sprunt Community College in Kenansville.
