More than 30,000 visitors have toured the Peacemaker during it’s month long stay at the riverfront in downtown Wilmington.

Monday, the boat will leave the Port City to continue its journey north, toward Portland, Maine. The crew says it’s still early in their journey, but it’s off to a good start.

“We actually just started. We finished the rig, so this is one of our first stops and it’s going over pretty good,” said crewmember Yalad Clinton.

Construction on the Peacemaker began in the 1980’s in Brazil.

The boat was finished in Georgia by the 12 Tribes, a religious group that now sails the boat to spread their message.

Sunday is your last chance to tour the ship free of charge before it heads back out to sea.

Tours will run from 10 am until 10 pm.

Spring may have officially started a few weeks ago, but the city of Southport celebrated the season Saturday with their annual Spring Festival.

Hundreds of people gathered at Franklin Square Park to hear good music, eat good food and win prizes.

The weather cooperated with the 115 vendors who had plenty of handmade goods to sell.

Co-chair Michael Clune said, “We put it on every year on Good Friday and Saturday of Easter weekend and we’re blessed with some very good weather and everyone has a wonderful time.”

Southport Spring Festival is sponsored by Downtown Southport Inc. and the Southport – Oak Island Kiwanis Club.

The Easter Bunny was spotted waving to cars on the corner of Market and Seventh streets on Saturday. He was out there a day early, not to deliver treats, but to invite passersby to the holiday Easter house at 610 Dock Street.

The house was filled with Easter goodies and people were able to get up close and personal with the Easter Bunny himself.

The women hosting the event are a part of Relay for Life, a cancer fundraiser.

It was free to enter the Easter house, but any donations went to benefit the charity.

You can pay a visit to the Easter Bunny Sunday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
