Gun platform discovered at Brunswick Town

A 147-year-old wooden gun platform was discovered by archaeologists and volunteers working at the Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site near Winnabow in Brunswick County.

Traffic backups in Brunswick County have been cleared

A trailer that came loose from a truck and blocked a lane of traffic Wednesday afternoon, causing a backup on U.S. 17 South, has been cleared from the road, officials said.

Eastbound and Down to continue

HBO gave the green light to a second season for comedy series Eastbound and Down.

The first season of the series about Kenny Powers, a washed-up loud-mouthed baseball pitcher, was shot here in Wilmington.

Johnny Griffin from the Wilmington Regional Film Commission said it’s too early to say if the show will continue filming here.

The second season of the Will Ferrell produced show will debut in 2010.
