If you’re ever visiting Washington, DC, Senator Kay Hagan wants you to stop by and say “hi.”

The Democratic Senator is set to begin hosting Carolina Coffees next Wednesday May 6th, in her office in the Dirksen Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill.

Carolina Coffees are part of the freshman Senator’s plan for openness and accessibility within her office. They’ll be held every Wednesday from 9 to 10am while the Senate is in session.

A man found dead in a burning car in Bladen County earlier this month has been identified as Arkim Shariff Cook, a Leland resident and former resident of Wilmington.

Wilmington, area unemployment rate drops in March

The area’s combined jobless rate fell to 10.2 percent in March from 10.8 percent in February, according to the N.C. Employment Security Commission and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Coast Guard brings boy from cruise ship to hospital

A U.S. Coast Guard rescue helicopter transported a 3-year-old boy Wednesday morning from an offshore cruise ship to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Sticky Fingers backing wildfire fund today

Sticky Fingers locations in Wilmington and Myrtle Beach are contributing to the Disaster Relief Fund of the Red Cross in the wake of the wildfire that swept parts of Horry County last week.The barbecue restaurant is donating 10 percent of its sales today to the fund.
