Music, art, fashion and film come together at the Soapbox in downtown Wilmington this weekend. It is We Fest, an annual festival that brings in people from all over the world. Doors open at 3:00 p.m. Thursday. We Fest ends Monday. Admission is one dollar or three dollars if you are under 21.
Another festival is happening on the other side of downtown Wilmington. This weekend is the 14th Annual Orange Street Arts Fest. More than fifty artists will gather at the Hannah Block Historic USO Community Arts Center. Hours Saturday are from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday the hours are 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Friday night kicks off a summer long concert series in downtown Wilmington. The Downtown Sundown Concert Series returns with 80’s cover band The Breakfast Club. Food, beer and wine will be for sale. Opening acts start at 6:00 p.m. The concerts take place in Riverfront Park every Friday night until mid-August.
You can also head over to Mayfaire in Wilmington for the 5th Annual Music on the Town Friday night concert series. Grab a lawn chair and find a spot on the lawn directly behind Ulta and World Market. It begins at six. Admission is free.
A new generation of performers are tackling Shakespeare this weekend. Area youth take on the Bard’s, The Comedy of Errors. Performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at 8:00 p.m. Admission is free.
If you live near in Wilmington you don’t have to drive too far to enjoy a family fun day on the farm.
Put on your cowboy boots and hats, and head to Davis Health Care in Porter’s Neck. A festival, complete with a petting zoo, will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until noon.
Carolina Beach kicks off a summer of fun this weekend. Friday night at the gazebo, rock band Machine Gun will play from 6:30 to 9:30, followed by fireworks.
On Sunday night, catch a free movie at the Carolina Beach Lake. Kicking off the season is the Disney movie, Bolt. The show starts at dusk; around 8:45 p.m. Admission is free.

Many people are not working Monday because it’s Memorial Day. If you want to get the family together for lunch or dinner, while helping a worthwhile cause, stop by Chili’s in Wilmington Monday. Ten percent of all proceeds will be donated to the Cue Center for Missing Persons. Hours are 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.
