Boaters save diver who hit propeller of his craft

Some N.C. judges refuse 0.5 percent pay cut

RALEIGH, N.C. | Nineteen of North Carolina’s 395 judges will not take a 0.5 percent pay cut requested by Gov. Beverly Perdue.Perdue ordered all state employees to take the cut to help fill a widening budget gap. But she couldn’t, under state law, force elected officials to reduce their pay.
